Shire of Murray – Edenvale Homestead
The Edenvale Homestead is a significant heritage site on the banks of the Murray River in the centre of Pinjarra. In addition to the homestead, the site contains a mix of heritage buildings including a church, schoolhouse, a cemetery and gardens. Many community groups and locals use the buildings and the site is a significant tourist attraction.
The site lacks proper signage and a coherent brand that unites it. Instead the groups that use it have created their own branding and signage to help visitors locate them but the approach ahs been piecemeal and adhoc.
The Shire of Murray received a heritage grant from LotteryWest for branding, interpretive and wayfinding signage. So, we worked with them to map out the site and determine the full signage requirements.
Then we set to work on the branding. It was important to create a brand that would highlight the heritage significance of the site without being stuffy and risking alienating the community. The branding needed to work well on signage – so have a high degree of legibility and simplicity.
